Tone up with Deadlifts!

Saturday sweat sessions at the bar!

Ladies wanna get strong, increase your metabolic burn, and feel bad ass!? Pick up the barbell, you won’t look back.

See you don’t need a bunch of exercises with 5 lb. dumbbells. Toned arms don’t come from curling light dumbbells for 20 reps. 🙅🏾

Isolation exercises are secondary to compound movements! 👇🏾👇🏾

Push, pull, carry, hinge, and squat is where you start and should always be the foundation of your training.

The “tone” you want to see comes from lifting the things not jazzercise, Zumba or step aerobics nor 2 hour cardio sessions.

Nothing inherently wrong with those activities, because I know their fun and you have a sense of community with the other ladies in the class.

So not to discredit them, because I teach group exercise as well. But, I want you to know that if you really want to see some tone and tightness, you must lift the things. Lift the things to promote body change. 💪🏾

You cannot tone the muscle that is not there. Don’t be afraid to start. Just start! Start right in your home with bodyweight work, a medium to heavy set of dumbbells, and a kettlebell or two. Heck, grab yourself a barbell from Academy Sports and a few plates. You don’t need a bunch of equipment to get to it.

Toning happens with deadlifts, squats, horizontal and vertical pushing and pulling. You’re not likely to see tone from curling 5 lbs and doing side bends.

Body composition changes happen from lifting the things. So what are you waiting for?

Deadlifting is my favorite!
